    Hot Wheels Starting ramp

My brother in law and I finished this yesterday afternoon. It is for the Cannon Falls Education Foundation fundraiser. They'll be selling hot wheels cars for $10.00 each and racing.

The support structure is half lap joined. The sides and base are 1/2" MDF and the track surface is 1/8" hardboard. Hot Wheels plastic track will be attached for the actual races.

Very cool. Did you design the logo on top, too? I was wondering how the
cars would stay on the track until I read you would have tracks, too. How
many cars across does it fit? 4-6?

The logo came from a hobby shop. The track we bought starts out with three separate lanes and merges into a single wide lane at the end.

Nothing says Hotwheels like a ramp or a loop. If you include an optional "ring of fire" you might sell a few more cars.

I know, it's for charity, but who wouldn't pay to have a car fly through a ring of fire?

Not your average, run-of-the-mill project! I hope you are able to raise even more than expected.

A very cool project. Did you design the starting gate too or did that come from the hobby shop?

hmm... pitch the bottom up more and make a look of copper, punch a few holes and connect propane.

                  I think it'd work great.

                  Nice ramp, btw.

Nice project. Reminds me of the ramp on a Pinewood Derby track.

                      Great project!!!!
The kids should really enjoy the races and earning some cash for charity is always worthwhile.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

I was thinking the same thing. I could very easily see how it could be adapted for pinewood derby.

Excellent build and another reminder of Pine-wood Derby in my case.
