    picture scrapbooking cabinet

The LOML wanted a cabinet for her scrap booking supplies and paper, stamps, cutters ect. The finished books go on the bottom shelf hopefully there will be enough room.

The frame and drawer fronts 3/4 cherry ply trimmed in mahogany- biskets, the drawers are 1/2 inch cherry ply-air finishing nails. We wanted a darker look so I stained it with a mix of 1/3 sedonda red & 2/3 natural minwax, then several coats of wipe on poly.

Drawer knobs were from Bargain Alert from Rockler last yr

Very nice job, J L. Seeing your drawer fronts were very timely for me also as I have to build two drawers today that will be hidden behind a cabinet door in a computer desk-hutch. I intend to use a 1/4 or 1/2 moon cut-out as you did in lieu of pulls. Yours let me know what 1/2 looks like and gives me more in-sight on which way I want to go.

So thanks and job well done on your part....

Genius. I have mixed feelings about showing this to my wife -- because I know she'd love to see it, but I also know that she'll want me to make her one!

That is one nice looking cabinet! It looks like you even took the time to cut and place the drawer faces in series so the grain runs from top to bottom. I am impressed also with the beautiful stain and finish work. Just beautiful!

very nice indeed! Is there a reason that the door on top has the hinges in the middle of the piece? Not that it really makes a difference, just wondering.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Alex, Sorry I don't have any plans. I measured her current boxes for paper and other scrapbooking items and ensured a little extra room.

Crokett, Initally I was going to leave the left side open with the drawers. But after the sides were made if I was going though that much effort i wanted a door covering the drawers for the look. Now I could cut down one side but have to realize its 3/4 ply and the edge has to be covered again with the 3/4 square mahogany strips giving 2 or 1.5" where the hinges go. So it boiled down to not wanting the sides to look uneven also this way if its placed in a corner the drawers will still open easy.
