The top and bottom slat shelf are padauk, and the legs and aprons are red oak. This was my first try at steam bending wood. It worked out pretty well, but boy was it a learning experience. I tapered the legs on a shop built taper jig and everything is finished off with 3 coats of danish oil and lots of lacquer. Thanks for looking.

Well done, Exodus. You are a busy beaver here lately. The Paduak speaks for itself and you did a nice job of chosing straight grain red oak to go with it. Nice legs... kinda like some of those professional dancer girls have on Dancin' with the Stars. And don't tell my wife I said that.
Keep up the good work... -

I think you posted that on the wrong forum, it should have gone in an "ART" forum! That is really a stylish piece, you should be very proud of it.Larry R. Rogers

Thanks for all the great comments guys.
Here is what I learned Poolhound:
-you have to be really fast once you get the piece out of the steaming rig, The wood does not stay flexible for too long
-have your clamps ready to go, and it also helps to have your form securely fastened to something solid.
-when you think you have cooked the wood long enough, cook it some more!Comment

Did you use thin rips and laminate them back togeather? or just bend a thick piece? From what I've read oak isn't the best bending candidate.
I bent some 1x2 cedar for a garden trellis once, but I didn't steam it, I just soaked it for a week.ErikComment
