    Door Decoration

This is an idea I had a while back that I thought someone else may find useful.
We have really tall ceilings in my living room and foyer area.I wanted something to breakup the large open area above the door.I always liked the keystones my dad used over windows of brick homes, so I used this as my basic idea and sizing. It is made from particle board shelving and stock crown from the blue box.The center ornament is a piece of maple from there as well, I used 2 coats of wb poly then siliconed it to the keystone. It is simple to build and everyone who comes over really likes it.
I have been debating whether or not to post pictures of this because it is so simple but I thought someone may also have the same problem.

I like it. That's a good idea, and it adds to the look. It makes the entry look more in proportion.

There's nothing wrong with a "simple project", post away! I think that "simple project" really added a lot to your entry. Very classy.

            Thank you for the compliments.
It was really nothing to make but imho it really worked as intended.I think I had about $20 in the whole thing.I guess sometimes simple is better.

I'd say that was money well spent. It looks great.

I think the crown I used for it was called coronado crown it is made so that the back is solid instead being open like most crown. It was the easiest way to get the look I was after.
I made a smaller one to go over the back door.LOML said it wouldnt look right to have only one done.I will see about getting photos of it to post

Thank you all for your kind words.
This is the keystone for the back door.I kept proportionally the same as the front door just scaled everything down.I also added about 5* more angle to get the same effect over the narrower board. The center ornament is the same stamped maple just smaller.

                              color is lovely too. Joann
