    Plantation Shutters

I have mentioned these in a few threads and thought I would post pictures.
These were built loosely to the NYW"s design and jigs.My jigs don't look anything like Norms though. The large window has a track that the middle section rides in. They fold as shown and slide all the way to either side to allow for cleaning.
I built these from reclaimed Spruce 2x material from shipping crates and did all the resawing on my old table saw, my band saw wouldn't resaw 3 1/2" slats.

Now thats a cool idea. Those track kinda like bi-fold doors don't they? Could you elaborate a little more on the tracking, maybe with some close-up pics? I have the NYW plans also & I coudln't for the life of me figure out how to do the 3 double windows in my house. That looks like a pretty good solution.

They work exactly like bi-fold doors .I used the nonmortise hinges on the back side of the panels. The track is made from extra slat material that I ripped and brad nailed down to the upper and lower window opening.I used some polyurethane from work to make the guides. They ride on the shoulder.I think you could use uhmw or dowels with Teflon washers. The outer panels are mounted using the nonmortise hinges as well.

                  Thanks for the kind words,
I hate to see something that can be useful thrown away.It takes more work to get the lumber and make it useful, but there's no way I could build as many things as I do if I had to buy the lumber. So it works out well.
These were the most time consuming project I have attempted. A lot of trial and error was involved in fine tuning the jigs to work with my tools and set the staples properly. The finishing is a lot of work as well.

I used this from Woodline as well for drilling into the end of slats and rails it worked better for me than the NYW jigs.I never could get the jig with the nylon pin to work right.

Sorry about that Dud not the kind of birthday wish I was trying to send you.
