    Craps table

Here are some shots of a craps table I built. Learned a lot! Too bad I don't need a second one, it would be a lot better! But it will work, as we've already had a "craps night" and it was a blast!!!

Hard to take pictures due to the size... though it is only 6 feet long. The "coolest" part to me is the chip rail. Holds two rows of chips.

It's in the game room. Makes a great "guys night" event. Although, it's such a fun game, quickly everyone is playing. I like the game, and I figured I'd better get a table to play at home, as going to Vegas to play costs a lot more than the ~$200 I have in this table!

Nice, I've mad a few poker tables and now have a real interest on making a craps table. What did you use to mill the chip trays with? You said you would have done a few things differently, could you elaborate? Are you always the "House" when you play?

Yes, as none of my friends know how to deal I'm stuck doing it. But it is still fun. They'll learn soon enough!

                Things I'd change:

I made the chip rail with a router bit. If you look the long side the chip grove goes all the way and stops where the side piece connects. As a result, the end rails are plunged grooves and the long side isn't. Just bothers me.

I'd also not use a real good piece of wood for the bottom of the table. It just gets covered with the felt anyway.

I used the "cheap" felt, so it doesn't have a pad backing. I would use a piece of kitchen draw padding, or an extra piece of felt, to give the table a bit of a softer feel.

Things I'm still going to do:

Put stops every "so often" on the chip rails so you have some to lean your chips against.

                Put mirrors on the inside.

                Build legs. (using 2x4s now)

Very nice done, BD. It's similiar to the handi-capped tables one might see in a casino. I'm sure you and your friends will enjoy and I agree that it is cheaper to build that than show up at a real one.

"Seven Out... pay the Don'ts and pull the Do's". Up one unit on Don't and continue up until the shooter makes a point.... then "pull me down" until the shooter craps out again and a new shooter holds the dice.

Just reminising a bit there on something I read.... never been in a casino! ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Very cool! Just don't become one of those guys who plays the "Don't" line.

Not me on the Don't Pass line, JR. Too much like a commitment from the opening shot fired. Wait until the point is established and then bring two units through the Don't Pass Box and establish it on the next roll. Then follow with one unit in the Don't pass box. With Seven coming on a average of every 6th roll.. sit and wait quietly until you hear the beloved words of the Don't player.....

Seven Out.. line away... pull the Do's and pay the Don'ts. But no rejoice as you will hear from the Do guys which are the majority. Don't is a way to Grind out a profit and Don't players aren't revered by Do players as they feel you are against them. But... you play agains the house.. not other players as in sports.. etc. The G in SARGE..g-47 stands for Grinder which is a name I was tagged with years ago for whatever reason.

I my experience it is mandatory for don't players to sit at a quiet corner, near the deailer, smoke a cigar, drink whisky on the rocks. The only sounds are grunts groans until he just picks up an leaves. A despicable race.
