Looking good. What sort of lighting did you do in the hood? Powered ventilation?

Are those the final supports for the first sump?
      They're gonna rust. (BTDT)

Hey, I was gonna ask that. I'd like to know too. Stand looks great, and beefy enough. As for the supports...maybe the fish are Italian, and like ravioli and spaghettiOs.

My grandaughter fed my Jack Dempsy some spaghettiOs, don't know if he ever ate them though. That was easier to clean up then the time she dumped a full can of the little red Tetra-bits into my 55.

I used to keep little cans of green beans for my catfishes. They'll rust if kept under a tank for too long.

On a silar track I caught my nephew dipping a cup in the 29gal that that same chichlid is in. Didn't really catch him in the act, but the wet shirt and wet face told me he was fibbing when I asked him "You're not drinking that fish water are you?"... "Nooo" was the standard kid answer given.

The cans are sadly temporary.. Just the perfect height for mock up.
Plus my wife wants the little cutting board back

I promised my daughter we would build a little stand for the sump together so that's next after I finish some doors.
I keep calling it finished but then build more stuff..

The lights are 4x65w Power compact.. 2x10k and 2xanatic.. 260w total
I need to add fans to the hood.

The raised sump is a refuge.. It's now filled with rubble rock and chato (a kind of seaweed)
The 10 gallon sump holds the protein skimmer and feeds the 580gph return pump.
The black Vectron box is a 25w UV sterilizer.

cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

Re: More Photos. Should have added (but forgot) the wall sconce is made from the tail end of a walnut plank, too good to waste. The plant hanger was copied from a picture in a catalog as plans had been discontinued.

That is some impressive project. The filtration system is awesome. The tank is going to be
easy to maintain with your elebrate filter system. Tell the little helpers "Good Job"

Our son has one like yours, and he has a sponge that attaches to the glass inside and a magnet that's on the outside. You move the magnet and the sponge moves along and cleans the inside of the glass.

This is going to be so fun for you and the kids.

The first pic is a wine cabinet made out of butternut. Hard to smooth out to finish but such pretty wood when it is finished. The second photo is a curio cabinet I made for LOML to keep her collection of fairies. Both are finished in clear poly then waxed. Nothing to cover up the color of the wood. Second photo was also made of butternut.
