    Trophy shelf for my son

My son is an avid basebal player and fan.He has tropies and bats from all of his years of ball and they really mean a lot to him.I built this for his birthday so he could display his most prized possesions.I cut the coved top piece on my table saw.My first attempt for this and it worked really well.there are still a few light scratches in it but I didnt want to change the profile from excessive sanding.

Nice work. Not much of a player myself, but I am an avid ball cap collector. This looks like something he can have in his home office as an adult...

Thanks for the kind remarks, everyone.

He wants a new composite bat that runs about $250-$300 dollars.I will need to build a fleece lined case if he ever gets it.Its amazing how much things have changed when I played a wood bat with Hank Aarons name on it was a big deal. Now it's space age material and high cost thats a big deal.

Very nice in deed. I like the way it just appears to float on the wall.

Nice display shelf, but I do have one question...

Isn't a Cubs pennant a bit out of place that close to TROPHIES?

The Cubs can get a pennant or two just no bling. The goat curse is still at work.My inlaws were originally fro chitown one is a sox fan the other cubs fan. They used to really go at it when my fil was still around. The Chicagoans really take their sports serious.

No reason the boy wouldn't be proud of that - and of you!! Good dads are important and you're one of 'em.

Very nice job, drillman. He want's a $250-$300 composite bat.... huh? I would tell him to get a job and that will solve the "want".

The rage when you played was a Hank Aaron signature bat.. He used to come in a pub and get waited on by my first wife while she was paying here way through college after games. Very quiet but extremely polite guy. I did get to see him hit over 100 home runs from the $1 General Admission seats in center field at the old Fulton County Stadium which is now a parking lot for Turner Field. You could bring your own hot dogs and hamburgers along with a thermos of beer. Things have changed besides the price of admission.

The rage when I played was a Mickey Mantle.. Roger Maris.. Eddie Matthews Louisville Slugger made from wood also. I'm guessing there might be some age difference here. I don't do any baseball games anymore as they priced it right off my priority agenda with whiney kids payrolls. He makes 9 million and I only make 6 million a year. Not fair.. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Pete Rose would have shown up and given 100% for $100 a game just to keep from getting a day job and he loved the game.

Sorry... just an ole man reminiscing the past....
