    Naked Roman Soldier

I came home today and my son had created a suit of armor and a sword out of cardboard and paper bags. But his sword was badly damaged -- dented and bent -- by the kid down the street who had a fancy plastic sword. Well, that cardboard sword just wasn't going to cut it (pun intended ) so I grabbed some scrap hard maple and sharpened it up nicely. The rematch is tomorrow... MOOA-HAHAHA!

Anyway, here he is modeling it after his bath. I love that he's able to see how quick and easy it can be to create cool wooden toys.

I think he needs to update his cardboard shield and omigosh paper suit of armor before something bad befalls him!

And by the looks of the picture, he sure need the sword since he didn't have any other toys with which to play.

Such a fine Roman will have his foes vanquished and running back to their mothers in mere minutes with such a fine weapon. At the feast tomorrow, Maidens will swoon and men will quake in fear at his noble gaze.

AH yes...it's been a few years but I remember those days fondly! (....and miss them!) You get the Dad of the Week award!

Now Captain Underpants needs a matching shield. Just bend some hardboard over a curved piece of pine or two and add some straps.

I'm on it this morning! Great idea using hardboard -- I was wondering how I was going to do that!
