Thanks all for the positive comments and encouragement

b0330923 - I will definitely send a copy to Mr. Linck, I don't think it will replace the beautiful claro walnut copy that he has on his website somewhere, but at least in appreciation of him making this project available to my skill level.

blackwalnut - that was one slab! I was thrilled when the man called me back - my first trip to him came up empty handed, but he informed me that he could order some for me. I was a little hesitant as that would be the same as ordering wood by mail to me. I told him what I wanted and that the wood needed to have a nice flowing grain with some "life" to it. Needless to say he delivered!

drumpriest - I was shocked to see that kinda grain in the walnut so I couldn't help but position the board to show it as "ribs" in the horse.

very nice work!! I am sure it will be well recieved and enjoyed for many years, if not many generations. My grandfather has made several "gifts" (I call them hierlooms) that have since been handed down to his great grand children.

Well, I was going to make some horse comments until you posted the little sweetie on him. How cuuuuute is she!?! Be sure that you ensribe your name and the year on the bottom of the horse. That's sure to be a family keepsake.
            Blessings,

Way ahead of you Chiz, burnt in my name and year on the bottom of the front support directly under the legs. Jason needs a haircut, everyone thinks he's a girl!

Moms always hate the first haircut. Still a cutie! Congrats!
