    Linen Display Case

Its finally finished. The hardware came in yesterday and was installed last evening. It is a knock off of a similar cabinet shown in a mail-order catalog (shown in last picture).

The frame is walnut and the panels are 1/4" walnut ply glued back-to-back so the walnut is seen on both sides. Panels are mounted in dadoes on the frame. Almost all joinery is by dowels or pocket screws.

Inside finish is two coats of quick-dry poly; outside finish is one coat of sanding sealer and two coats of wipe-on poly. (The LOML prefers the glossier interior finish and semi-gloss exterior.) No stain was used, accounting for the variation in wood color.

In a previous post I sought advice on how to stain and finish the inside surfaces. At that time I was thinking of using 1/2" walnut ply, but changed to the double-sided 1/4" walnut ply.

    Thanks for looking, regards, Steve

Looks good! Nice sharp, clean lines.

How did you finish the top of it?

Yours came out so much nicer than the original piece. You should be proud of that...

Very nice. I like the "natural" look of the unstained walnut. I almost always use "clear" finish to show the wood and grain.

Beautiful! Walnut is one of my favorite woods to work with.

I think the mail order catalog ought to display yours. Looks a lot nicer. Very nice job, Steve

Very nice !! I like the variance of color,, looks much more natural to me than a total overall shade of stain.
