    Well, Almost complete

I thought about placing this in finished projects but I've yet to apply a hand rubbed oil finish but I'll move it to here anyway. I'll also be moving my brotherhood emblem to pointing up to the right, should have thought of that when I was putting it on but they come bent. The Star rank is the highest rank I earned as a youth as is the Brotherhood Honor of the Order of the Arrow. I've seen some staves that have all the ranks and frankly I think it looks bad as to earn one you had to earn all previous. Without further delay the pics:

More camp pics to follow in a different topic. Only two tools used for this project: Buck 303 pocket knife, it started out scary sharp and a Scout hatchet to set the pins holding the emblems.

That's really cool! After college, a buddy & I hiked for 6 weeks along the continental divide trail. We fashioned some hiking staffs early on, and did a bit of carving on them along the way. But nothing like your chain link...wish I would've thought of that as that trip provided plenty of idle hours to try something like that.

I like that Mark. That's the kind of thing I did in HS shop. All those BIG machines at my disposal and I spent a year carving things with a pocket-knife and sanded them on that big vertical sander.

You don't need a police "billy club" do you? Got a few hundred left from HS shop days.

Reminds me of my Mt. Fuji climbing staff. Got two of them! Mine doesn't have a hand carved chain link though.

That is good work on that!

that is really nice work. I did some hiking as a teenager and we carved some into our walking sticks, but nothing like that and certainly not a chain link.

Very nice Mark. See you dont really need all those expensive power tools when a pocket knife will do the trick.

That is what I keep telling him. Especially when he says he needs a new tool for a project.

Although I don't mind getting him new tools especially when he makes such gorgeous things for me and the house.

Nope, you NEED power tools, just not for this project... Need is such a subjective word of course...
