That looks really nice Alex and gives me an idea for a space in my shop that is kind of awkward to use.

Yeah, I keep mine closed up when I'm not using it. If you drop the table extension, it holds all of those bits in place.

Well, I only finished it last night so I haven't really put it to the test, but so far it seems very solid. I think the 4" casters help a lot.

Regardless of how well it rolls, though, I'm not going to pull or push with too much force -- just in case the wheels are hung up. . . .the last thing I want is all those heavy tool coming down on top of me! But so far it glides very nicely fully loaded and with very little effort.

No racking either -- it's pretty solid, and I like that all the new pegboard surface is now mobile, too.... A stationary shelf might work well if you have the room to give it a permanent location. But it wouldn't work in my case because I need to be able to move everything around -- when I "bring the shop out" I can't get the car in the garage, and when I "put the shop back" I have to double-park things like cabinets, tool chests, boards, and the new jointer...

Ah -- You know I've never actually folded down that extension, but that makes all the sense in the world [slaps forehead]. Thanks for the tip!

looks nice! neatly organizes all those bench top tools. the peg board sure is a plus.

you cant roll that out of the garage, right? is that miter saw safe up there (at top of the shelf)?

now why do you have the delta belt/disc sander when you have the all in one ridgid

Very well done allowing mobility to the job site.. Sorry as I almost missed this post as I seem to go in about 4 directions at once most of the time.

                Regards...

One thing that I noticed is that you have storage above the top shelf. As an exsafety inspector that wouldn't fly in a commercial shop. Otherwise a very nice job.

Do you plane & joint the 2x4s? I carefully select them & they're still ragged & not especially square. Yours look too snappy to be off the rack.

                          bench tool storage shelf

Looks as if you did a good job on that storage shelf, my only concern is and would be the items stored on the top shelf. Some heavier items like a chop saw or other heavy tools might present a problem getting them down and up again. It might be too easy to get overbalanced when handling these tools
overhead and cause a serious injury. Smaller items like a random orbit sander,
or 1/4 sheet sander or small tools in a plastic case would be the best thing to store up top in my opinion. Just something to think about....eezlock

The article recommended cleaning up the boards, but I just spent a little time picking clean looking borads off the rack and just used them as-is.

Yes, it's a good point. I do have to be very careful getting that saw down, but it is managable. And I don't really use it that much anyway...

                            Thanks for the great input!

I really like the idea of this cart. Excellent for those of us with limited space.
