Same style B/S box different method of cutting

Cut all the drawer fronts out from the ½ removed from the front of the box instead of just the bottom four, makes for a lot more sanding on the outside of the drawers but in the end they fit tighter. No sanding on the inside of the box also makes for tighter drawers.

The grain was filled with Benjamin Moore grain filler and approximately nine coats of wipe on poly (satin) were applied but probably sanded off four or five coats.

Again Brian.. it amazes me how you (and others) can put that kind of detail into such a small package. For me.. maybe battle-ship size, but not those delicate liitle master-pieces.

Are you prepared to accept a challenge? A larger box? Or better still one which leans to one side from about the third drawer?

Tony … holy cow man, that’s a challenge alright and I know exactly what you’re talking about as I’ve considered that myself, problem is I think I’m restricted by my resaw height which is 6 inches, I don’t believe I could throw another curve into the box or make it bigger with out buying a bigger band saw (which I just might do if I think I could wrestle the thing downstairs) Now just think for a moment … with a bigger band saw which could make bigger band saw boxes the size of small end tables you could command a small fortune for such a box.

The challenge remains, just because yours is only 6" does not mean that a larger work is not possible.

You have a broken box already, consider the possibility of having two boxes of the same timber joined to create one work ????

I have two, one a 6" and the other a 12".

Quite a challenge for sure Tony, you’ve really got me scratching my head. Design is not one of my strong points … I’m not too shabby at redesign. I’m thinking how to join two separate pieces of wood so no joint is visible or if that’s not possible making the joint part of the feature. The possibilities are endless if I could just grasp the beginning concept. Would you be willing to start me off with a sketch or drawing? Or how about any body reading this, put pencil to paper and see what we can come up with.

Therefore there is absolutely no reason for you (or anyone else for that matter) to feel that you are less able to be creative than anyone else, I've only one thing to say "get on with it"!
