      I had a Japanese version of the egg and it did not get hot on the edges. I loved that thing but lost it in a move - it broke but I could not find a replacement. Been missing it since!

      The most surprising thing to me was that it did not take much charcoal or hickory for it to do a super job! Those things are well insulated.
