That's one beautiful piece of work. Now what do we have to do to complete the shipping arragnments? Pat

      Very nice!

I'm curious; how do you now protect the writing surface from pencil and pen marks? Glass top? Or, is the cherry hard enough that it's not a concern!

Beautiful! I love the curved end, and I love the natural finish. Great job!

That is a BEAUTIFUL piece. I just purchased some cherry yesterday to make a small corner cabinet. Have to plane it tonight.
          Again awsome desk...

First, thanks for the all the comments. Just some responses to random
            questions.

It's my wife's USB record player (and desk). She likes to collect old records
and will use it to transfer some old records to MP3. But if she gets bored,
she may start doing some scratchin'. But usually when she gets bored, I get
            to build something else.

Scratches/pen/pencil marks. She plans on getting a desk blotter or
something. I don't think cherry is hard enough to resist dents from pens and
            pencils.

Only the top is solid cherry. I have construction details in that link. It's all
veneered plywood. My local lumber yard sells cherry shorts (6') for $4.15/bf
so the tops were actually one of the cheaper components. The drawer slides
            were the most expensive component.

Shipping costs for this thing will probably be more than what I put into it. It
stays put. Sorry. Sounds weird, but I wanted something solid that if I
banged my fists on it, it wasn't going to rattle the whole thing. Know what I
            mean?

            What's next?
Probably a small printer stand to tidy up those wires. Then either a walnut
bar cabinet to enter into the county fair in August or a master BR closet
            remodel. Stay tuned!

            Paul

Gorgeous. I love it and the curved end was a very nice touch.
