    Amish knock off

I saw this Magazine rack/cup holder/remote holder at an Amish Furniture store in Homes County. The left is a quick pic I took with my cell. The one on the right is my version. I didn't have the fancy spindles so I just used dowels for the sides. It is Maple with three coats of wipe on poly. This was my first experience with the wipe on and I really liked the way it applies.

Wow! Really? Maple? I would sworn it was a slightly curly Cherry or something. Very nice!

Ditto Jeff's comments on the wood. Nice take-off on the original.

Very nice work! It was a rocking horse (and the price) in an Amish gift shop that got me back into woodworking. You know, the old "I can do that and do it cheaper"!

Very nice job with the construction and the finish looks great. But.. you learn something new every day. I was not aware that those Amish read magazines, let alone used cup holders.
