        grits -- I used the patented "stain the heck outta it" method...it took about 8 or 9 applications to get the desired color, except for a couple of thirsty board in one of the doors. Halfway through the project I had a guy at the BORG tell me that the "Sedona red" stain was being discontinued (they were out), so I scrambled around town collecting enough for the rest of the project...I think the guy was telling a story, because it's been 6 months and I've seen it around since, but I didn't want to take a chance. I now have enough stain to create a house full of "Sedona Red" furniture

        nickg -- the center bridge is attached to the towers using a french cleat.

              The stain is made by MinWax (in those bright yellow cans).
