    Entertainment Center

    Hi guys,

I finally finished the entertainment center I've been working on (and off) for the past 12 months...It is made out of birch ply and poplar, and stained "Sedona Red", although in real life it is a little darker than the pic. The design is my own, since all the plans I looked at were a lot more complicated than my current skillset...

Halfway through the process, the TV changed, so the design had to be modified to fit (cubbies between the towers, and a straight shelf rather than a larger one with a back).

I didn't really have anything to put in the tower on the right, so those are baseball cards you see there for now...the joys of being a bachelor I suppose

After doing a project this big, I look forward to working on much smaller things where you can scrap the wood and start over on a goof...

    Thanks for looking,

From what I see if the plans were beyond your ablility/skill level, they must have been REALLY complicated. Nice work!

That is fantastic. I too like the finish. And the overall design. Very well executed and worth the wait.

Did you prep the poplar wood for the finish? I have never been able to get such a consistant color from poplar like you have. I started using it for paint grade because of that. Very beautiful work!

Very nice!!! Nice design - you could get a design job at Ethan Allen!

I like the stain color. When I built my EC I didn't like any of available the 'stock' stain colors, so I wound up mixing my own. How did you attach the center 'bridge' section to the opposing towers?

Nice work. Most of my projects require "creative carpentry" too! I love the stain color.

Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! -Rocky Balboa-
