Thanks everybody; have been pretty happy with the end results myself.

I just used cedar thru-out, but not from HD - they generally don't have the 2-by thickness for the legs; I went to the local lumbershop.

Funnily, while the magazine gave the plan, I had to buy the full-size pattern for the legs at the website for $4.95; I'd thought it should be free, but whaddya know ?

With the pattern cutting a 2 x 6 along the curves was simple enough.

Nice about this design is that the bench folds inwards, so that the seat comes up from the rear - much easier to carry it just by holding the slot in the seat's last slat (try saying that out fast).

I'm sure I have pics for the hinge, shall post later.

Plans -- don't seem to include seat/back slat detail or hinge info .. ??

Hi ... I went to the website you cited and bought the plan ... really like the bench ... but as far as I can tell looking at the plan they don't specify the detail for the back/seat slats (which I understand can be made generally by simply deciding what size bench you want) but also I don't see any info about the 'hinge' arrangement ... can you supply any additional detail or pictures??

          I thought the same thing!

That is a very nice bench, did you use a jigsaw or a bandsaw to cut the legs??

It would be very easy to store for the long winters we have in New England
Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. Bade, the page I quoted is only for buying the pattern for this plan. The actual plan is part of the magazine. If you don't have access to the magazine but want more details you could pm me and I could help out.

Yep, very nice. How much does that little number weigh? Just a guess-timate would do.
