Between bad weather, tearing down and moving the new building, trying to keep up with the yard, and driving Ginger to the dentist in San Antonio there hasn't been much shop time these last few months. I did finally get some time and decent weather at the same time yesterday and finally put the finishing touches on the last of the Christmas presents I owed!
The first is a turntable for the LOML to decorate cakes up to half sheet size. Walnut trimmed in Purpleheart with a plate glued to the underside and a base of 1/2 Baltic Birch. The underside is laquered and top is finished with 3 coats of salad bowl finish. She has already said it will serve as a lazy susan when she doesn't need it for cakes.
The other is a wall mounted display case for some of my youngest's eagle collection. All Walnut stock except the plywood back using mortise and tenon joinery for the case and stopped dados for the shelves. Finished with 4coats of clear laquer.
