Display Case for Old Wood Working Tools

I had some old tools that were my great grandfathers and thought they would make a nice display. My son does powder coating so I had him powder coat them a black. I turned new handles for the draw knife and made this display case which is 19" wide X 25" long and 4 1/2" deep. It is oak with a golden oak stain and a poly finish.

Very nice! Your son did a great job on the powder coating and the whole thing looks good.

Cool!!! I like the powder coating idea!! How "clean" did the old tools need to be before they could be powder coated?

They were just out of the tool box, no rust and I think my son made sure any oil was off them. The thing that amazed me is that they still work even after the powder coating. Of course the blade edges would have to be cleaned first but the brace works fine!

A most unusal project and a very nice one. I love the old tools and your display is great.

Very professional looking. Oak is great - one of my favorites. Looks like it should be in a museum, or gallery.
