    Orca Intarsia

Somewhat finished anyway (I still need to put a finish on it) - with two toddlers, it's hard to get more than 15 minutes at a time, so after a long time of cutting one or two pieces at a time, here's my intarsia orca (and my first attempt at intarsia too).

The pattern was from Wood Magazine (they ran an issue recently of intarsia jewelry/keepsake boxes). It's all poplar (I had a bunch of 1/4" scraps lying around) - the "dark" pieces have a mahogany stain.

And here's a pic of the glue-up... It sure was fun trying to squeeze those clamps in (the piece is less than six inches long). Probably overkill, but I had to use all those clamps I had lying around.

Nice, Dave. One of those projects I don't have the patience for.

Very nice job. I showed LOML and now she wants me to make one for our God Daughter.
Where can I get the plans? I do not get that magazine.
