    Aquarium Cabinet

This is not the way I would have chosen to build this cabinet. However, this is for my brother-in-law and to his specifications. He wants to do the finish on it, so the end result will be out of my control. I'm sure he'll do a good job of it.

The entire cabinet is made with red oak plywood. The doors are solid oak. I used my own input into the style of the doors. He wanted just one large door made of plywood.

I think function was his main focus.

This project was the first time I've used the pocket hole screws. I may have used more than I needed. It won't come apart for sure.

Since the purpose of this cabinet is to hold a 30 gallon fish tank, I found some appropriate knobs for the doors.

I made square molding to stay with the square lines of the cabinet.

    Anyway, here it is.

Good looking cabinet. Alot nicer than the two I made years ago. Would like to see it with finish on it. Pat

With 30 gallons of water and number of fish, it is better that way.

Nice job with the cabinet and those knobs are just the right touch!

Great looking cabinet Claudio! I'm sure it will hold the weight just fine.

Nice cabinet. Too bad the fish won't appreciate all the work you put into it.

Nice job! At some point, I want to build one of those for my daughter's 125 gallon tank. Since she'll be heading off to college in 2-1/2 years, I suppose I ought to do it soon!

Excellent! But if LOML saw it she wouldn't let me "waste" it on fish!

Nice cabinet. Is there any lip on the top to preven the tank from sliding off? I dont think there is such thing as to many pocket hole screws.

Thank you gents for all your kind words.

The instruction I was given didn't include a lip on the top. That could be accomplished if he decides he wants it.

Like I said before, if it was going to be my cabinet, I would have put a nice base on it.

                          Thanks again.

just a remedial question. what is the joinery technique called that you used on the door miters?
