    Jewelry Box

My first project with the BT3K. It is made from African Padauk and Quilted Maple. It is lined with green velvet (Rockler). Wood was purchased from InternetLumber.com. Finished with four coats of Watco Danish Oil. I have since made 10 or so of these for family and friends. As I complete them (and getting better at it) the LOML exchanges the last one for the newest one. Dimensions are 3.5" tall, 6" deep and 12" long. Hinges were the most expensive parts used. Solid brass Brusso precision hinges.

Wow. That is some very nice work. It looks like the sides are mitered corners with maple splines?

        Miters are tough

Yes, corners are mitered on the box and the lid as well. That is the toughest part, getting exaclty 45 degrees. In the end I built a jig for the SMT as I couldn't seem to get it right otherwise. With the exception of the lid, all the cuts were made on the TS. Worst part is working with the Padauk. The dust is very irritating to the eyes, throat and skin. But its a beautiful wood. Next project is using Tiger Wood and Curly Maple.
