            BigguyZ,

That is the birch/maple plywood from HD and Maple moulding, and poplar plinth blocks and rosettes. The stain is a two part thing I came up with. I took one of our kitchen cabinet doors to a local paint store and asked if they coud match the color of that stain. They tried to get as close as they could but it lacked something. I got some red stains, Red Mahogony, Red Oak, etc, (don't remember which I finally used, think it was Red Mahogony) and used a coat of that over the matched stain. Sprayed on all stains and a satin lacqur with a HF HVLP spray gun while the unit was disassembled.

Honestly, that has to be the best looking book case I have saw on this site. You certainly should be proud. The details are very nice and the crown miters look perfect. The fact that this is made out of Birch/Maple ply, maple moulding and poplar rosettes AND the stain is so even and natural speaks strongly of your skills. You really did a great job regardless of costs, but the fact that you were able to get those results with big box ply, etc is amazing. You really have me thinking now about my big up coming project. I was set on the fact that I would have to use $90 sheet walnut ply, but I may just have to test some General Finishes Walnut stain that I have on some of that maple/birch ply. Which side do you have facing out, the maple or birch?
I don't see how you ripped those sheets with a RAS but more power to you! At least you have a TS to work with now. That should make things much easier.

Looks great, would not have known there were several wood species there. Great job!
                Measure it with a micrometer...
                Mark it with a crayon...
Cut it with a chain saw!

                  Jeffrey,

It was natural birch. I don't know if you can make out the sticker in the top corner. I liked the coloring of the wood and used this as my exposed face.
