Beautiful as always Ken. Do you use veneer softener at all? What kind? I have some various veneers that I've not been able to work yet, and they are curling on me.

Anyway, as always, that table is stunning.

Next time you do a table like this please do a "how to" thread with pictures of the process as you progress!

Thanks everyone I am glad you like the table. It was really quite a challenge in the making but I got to learn some new techniques and I have been thinking about doing one like this for awhile now. I am probably going to deliver the table today to its new owner.

Keith; yes I do use a softener on occasion. I use a commercial one called Pro-Glue Veneer Softener sold by Woodcraft as well as others. It works very well and after the process is complete I can roll the veneer in a tube with no issue. I probably should have used it on this veneer not so much for flattening but more for stabilizing. This veneer was like a sponge when the finish hit it. I have quite the collection of veneers and the trick is in storing them. I keep them on a shelf flat with heavy boxes on top of them and this keeps them nice and flat.

Pat and Rob; I know can you believe it? A project that I just could not figure out how to sneak a turning in!

Fiasco; my wife encourages me to take pictures during a project. This one is no exception so if people are interested I can write it up and post the building process on my site.

In the words of the late, great Peter Boyle, "HOLY CRAP!" That makes my 2x4 and OSB sewing counter project look like ... well, like 2x4s and OSB.

                      Hi Ken

                      Well, my impression is:
A lot of irregular cuts that I cannot make
Round front that I cannot make
Veneering is far from my skills
But, maybe I could make the back side

I think that is not only beautiful but also very professional work

                      Thanks for sharing

Interestingly enough, I've been whacking away at wood for 35 years and by default have luckily acquired quite a few advanced techniques along the way. But... I have never attempted veneering as I have a penchant for solid wood till this point. That might not change, but I do admire the delicate veneering operation and those that can master it.

                        Well done, Ken...

                        Regards...
