Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
Larry: I wanted to prefab as much as I could because I figured it would make the job easier overall (which it did), and to minimize the impact I had on my friend's shop. There was still a lot of work in the on-site phase, though (as the other thread hopefully illustrates).
onedash: The planer barely raised a sweat since it was soft pine, and on the initial pass I was only taking about 1/16" off each wide face and nothing on the edges. On the final, clean-up pass, probably less than 1/64" material was removed from each side. I about died of boredom standing there feeding all the pieces through, though.
The camera was/is quite ordinary: a 4.0 megapixel Canon A520. It does take great pictures, and is dead easy to operate (my two main criteria). I paid $175 some 15 months ago but its updated successor, the 5.0mp A530, is already down to ~$130.LarryComment
