A couple of firsts in this one...first raised panel, first project using a table saw, first time using homebrewed poly.
Here's what happens when you start out a project by saying "I want to make a raised panel door." I finished the door and then thought "cool - what can I put this on?" So this started out as a bathroom wall cabinet. After constructing the case, I realized this beast couldn't really go on the wall...thankfully, my parents stopped by with inspiration -- the last of my cd collection I'd left at home. So I added legs and it became a cd cabinet.
The case/door is done in 3/4" pine, and the shelves are cheap HD 3/8" plywood banded in pine. I tried a new stain called "Old Fashioned Deep Penetrating Red - Fiery Red", and after the first coast it was really really red (looked like red paint, except you could still see wood grain.) Toned down the stain with a couple of coats of minwax red oak, and finished with wipe-on poly.
Thanks for looking.
