    Thanks everyone. There is no stain. Just Zinnsner Seal Coat
    shellac and then paste wax. This was a homework assignment so
    I didn't put much thought into "colors". The cherry and maple
    is what I had around from another assignment. The cherry has
    aged a little so it's getting nice and darke. There are
    curly maple squares as well as a curly maple border. The border
    veneer is from a different lot and yes, it is pretty dark for
    maple, but that's what the guy on eBay said it was. The dark
    border strip is sapelle pomelle, I think.

    There is a solid maple edge with a bullnose but I did a horrible
    job doing it. It will probably rip the edge off and if I
    ever use this board, it will be inset into a nicer frame.

      Thanks Paul! Didn't know Maple comes that dark, but it sure looks like quilted Maple.
