    Kitchen island/cart from recycled wood

I made this cart for my wife. The kitchen countertops are to high for her to chop food comfortably so this one is made just for her height. She is a shorty.

I found an old pallet at work and asked if I could have it. They gave it to me and it became the cart after much planning and machining and filling. The pallet came from Japan so I don't know what kind of wood it is but it is considerably harder than pine. The frame around the top is red oak. The top is granite. (got it for free). It is loose tenon and mortise construction. I left 1/32" space between the oak frame and the granite. I filled it with clear sylicone. It's on wheels so it can be moved where ever she wants with ease.

Towel holder on one end and hooks on the other end to hold her cooking utencils.

    She is a happy camper.

Nice job, Claudio. My wife's a "shorty" also and would really like something like that. Hmmmmm

Well thought out and done Claudio. I would never of thought of using a pallet that way.

No wonder she is a happy camper. It is beautiful. No one would ever guess it is built from a pallet.

Beautiful cart, Claudio. Just make sure she doesn't chop directly on the granite, the granite can take it, but it would be a great way to ruin the knife.

That sure is purty. Can't let LOML see that - she will want one even sooner than she does now.

I love the look of natural wood grain more than anything, but some of these painted projects on BT3 have been looking really great. Did you spray this project? It looks great!
