    Copper Top

I recently made a bird feeder as a house warming gift for a daughter. If you make something for one, the other family members will want one, as well. This is my third and I have a couple more to go.

Wow. that is very nice work. Can't let LOML see that or she will want one.

Please delete this post. I don't need any more added to the Honey-Do list and that will get on there if SWMBO sees it!

It won't be so bad and after three of four, you'll be able to do it in your sleep....literary.

Well thought out and nicely executed. Very nice.

Looks great. I have a copper top exterior fire place on my stone deck which requires a little upkeep to keep the copper from tarnishing and getting dark. In case some of you are interested here's what I do to get rid of the tarnish. If the copper is really badly tarnished, mix 1 cup of vinegar, two table spoons of table salt, and a 1/2 cup of pure lemon juice. Then add enough flour to it all until you have a nice looking paste.
Spread the paste over the copper and rub in circular motions. Let sit for about 1/2 an hour, then rinse off with a water using a garden hose. If the copper is just slightly tarnished and you want to get real nice new copper look, cut wedges of lemon, sprinkle salt on them, and rub it on to the copper again, then rinse off with a garden hose. Works great.
For my exterior fireplace, I now have a cover for it, which keeps the rain from tarnishing it when not in use. Just my 2 cents worth.

                      Your comments

Thank you all for the great comments. As far as keeping the copper from tarnishing, the tarnish doesn't bother me. It's just a stage prior to the green patina. It's just a personal thing, I guess.

I understand this part, but when do you use the vodka? Oh wait, that's to shine something else.

Great looking feeder. I have a copper roof birdhouse and feeder on the list for this year. Hope mine looks as good as yours.
