I am new to woodworking and am a complete novice. I hope you can help me with what are probably really basic questions. I am looking at the BT3100 and the Ridgid TS3650. The BT3100 has a 15 amp motor and the Ridgid has a 13 amp motor. Does this mean that the Ryobi has a more powerful motor. All of the wood magazines seem to indicate that you should buy a saw with as powerful a motor as you can afford. The Ridgid no load blade speed is 3172 rpm while the Ryobi is 4800 rpm. Does this matter much? Also I read in WOOD that induction motors (Ridgid) leave less scoring on the wood than belt driven motors (Ryobi)? Have you noticed a lot of scoring or scorching of wood when using the Ryobi? From everything I have read on this site, Ryobi's saw seems to be an excellent value for the features provided. I am not inclined to spend $300 more on a Ridgid unless there is a lot more provided on that saw. The only thing I could see different was a cast iron table top and 36 inch rip capacity to the right versus Ryobi's 31 inch capacity. Lastly, is the Ryobi saw easy to connect to a dust collection system? I appreciate any guidance you can provide.
