    BT3000 shims

I'm new to the site. I wish I'd found it years ago.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Are the 90 degree shims, Ryobi part #3, available anywhere? If not, has anyone ever made them from brass.

    Thanks

Assuming those are the elevation shims I got mine from ereplacementparts.com

Thanks, but they are listed as obsolete, not available.

This vendor claims to have 16. No experience with them, just found via Google

some guys have said they easily bent their own from brass stock available at hardware stores... Don't recall the exact posts but it was within the last year, probably 6 months so I'd look in the BT3 discussions.

They should still be available for sale, too. I bought a spare set some years back so Murphy says I will never have to use them.

Thanks to Tfischer: I just ordered a pair from the site at your link. $8 for the pair of shims, but an egregious $12 for shipping. Oh well, at least I'll have a pair.

I straightened out the set I currently have, and contact cemented them in place, but don't know how long they'll hold up.

                Thanks again.

I can confirm that DIY shims work great!

I just got a small sheet of stainless steel (.008") from my local hobby shop and cut/bent a replacement. It went in great and after a little PTFE dry lube the blade will now raise/lower with zero effort!

The stock I got measures the same as the original shim but feels less sturdy. I think it may be coated with something and have a thinner steel "core". I suspect the DIY ones will wear out sooner but I got enough stock to make several shims for > $2 so I'll be happy to make new ones when the time comes.

Unfortunately when I got everything back together the motor no longer turns on but that's a different post altogether. Searching the forum now.
