I'd second that thought of getting a Shark. I never liked or used the OEM guard either, but I'll keep my Shark on for most things. The shark knife is always on my saw unless using a short blade, dado stack, my box joint blades. The guard comes off when using my Grrippers, sleds etc. I didn't get the pawls for mine either.

The shark guard attaches quickly and easily to the knife. It comes off just as simple too. You'd be able to work much the same way you do now, but be able to attach a guard when needed.

On top of the safety benefits the addition of the dust port is a welcome feature too. It really is a nice product.

        Question...

Where did you get the handles? Never seen them before.
        Downunder ... 1" = 25.4mm

I am familiar with the Shark Guard, and realize I should be using it or something like it. However, I do all of my cross cuts on the table saw with one sled or another, and also use gr-rippers for many rips. So, on a typical project I would not be able to use the guard for a majority of the cuts. Also, my main cross cut sled stays on the saw; I temporarily remove it for rips, than put it back on. I would be constantly taking the guard off and on.

          Excuses, I know.

                Hey Rod:

Which handles? The pulls on the drawers? If those are what you are referring to, they are just utility pulls from Lowes or Home Depot.

That is a beautiful cabinet. Wish I had some of that flame wood for one of my guitar builds.
