    Feather Board Placement with SMT

How does one go about clamping a feather board to the SMT and in front of the blade so that boards are held snug against the fence during ripping?

    here's what I do.
Lock the SMT at the right position with a clamp to the fixed base. the Featherboard should be entirely before the blade leading edge.
Lock the featherboard to the SMT by adjusting the angle (mines cut to 30°) of the miter fence. I used the Ryobi miter clamp but you can also clamp right to the moter fence or even put a vertical on the leading edge of the featherboard and use the slot in the front of the miter fence.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
