    Help ID saw

Couldn't get an answer from the owner, so could someone tell me which saw this is? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/for/1808713846.html It looks like the stand from a BT3000, but the front didn't match the pictures I looked at. I sure would appreciate the help. Thank you.

I'd say that since the rails are silver and the base is square that you are looking
    at a BT3000.

      definately a BT3000.
It has a new switch so its not likely from the 1st couple of years (1992-93) but it does have the metal elevation crank which puts it in the first half or so of BT3000 production (probably before 1998 or so) The metal crank wheels were gone by the end of 1999 I'm sure.
you can see the SMT but not much else topside.

Okay, thanks for the replies. The "10" Precision Benchtop cutting system" on the front of it was throwing me off. I didn't get anywhere searching on that phrase and the pictures I saw of the BT3000 didn't show that. I know, it looks like the SMT is just barely poking out, but hard to tell. I'll try setting it up to go take a look at it, as the price is certainly right. Thanks again.

i think the SMT is turned 180 degrees. Mostly its to keep from being a hip-basher when stored but it can also be used this way to "pull" your work thru the saw.

Looks like a good price, depending on condition. Interesting that both pictures are low (dog's eye?) views- can't see what the top, SMT, fence, etc look like. Shelf inset into leg braces may indicate some care was taken. Go for it!

Which raises a question. Has anyone adapted or modified the SMT on the BT3x00 to a double slide SMT, such as on the BTS21, so that it slides up flush? I haven't seen anything like that, but my hips would sure love it.

It looks like a very early version of the BT3000 with the two button switch that was recalled.
Those were made in the USA and built heavier than the imports that had more plastic parts.
The downside is the 13 amp motor on the early versions which this one should have.
Look at the plate next to the plug outlet, it will show the amperage and the last 4 digits of the serial number is the date it was made, I suspect early 90's.
I also don't see the miter fence or the rip fence in the photos.

after reading Komatoasts post and reinspecting the picture, he may be right about the switch which would put the saw about 1992-1993 and very likely have the recalled original switch and also very likely the old 13-Amp motor. read the name plate for the motor ampacity (13 or 15?) and the date of manufacture a 4-digit code like 9432 would mean the 32nd week of 1994.

If we could see the top of the accessory table we could tell more about it.

I was going to meet with the owner today, but apparently he works on call and was called into work at the last minute. We'll try again tomorrow afternoon or Monday evening. He said he did come across the manual and it is a BT3000, but that's about all he knows, except his Dad bought it "quite a while ago". Curiouser and curiouser, but we'll see.

at that price, I'm surprised it is still there.
