    Shark guard?

I guess I am in the market for a shark guard for my BT3000. I did not like the Ryobi guard, so 2 years ago, I took it off. Does someone on here sell them? I was ripping a piece of plywood today and the saw took its revenge out on my thumb today. Took off the fat lower part of my left thumb up to the first joint. There was enough skin left on one side so they stitched it all back together. X rays showed no bone damage. My wife said no more sawing til the guard goes on - so now I have a good excuse to buy a good guard. Just a terrible price to pay!!
No one in the emergency room had a camera phone - so no pics. I wanted one emailed to me to print out and place next to the tablesaw. Oh well.

    Thanks,
    Conwaygolfer

Sorry about the accident, but glad it wasn't worse!

Ouch, glad it was just tissue damage.

Check the link at the top of the main forum page, or this one:

I love my shark. I hardly ever used the OEM guard, but the sharguard stays on, or at least the riving knife.

Sorry to hear about your thumb.

+1 (million times over) on the Shark Guard. It is made incredibly well and a pleasure to use. So much that there is no excuse not to have it on for every cut that you can.

Pelligrinni - thanks for the website info. Got it ordered. Hopefully that will end the safety issue. First time I used a router about 10 years ago, I was holding the material in one hand and the router in the other. Needless to say, it tore up my fingers when it hit the wood running. Some of us are just plain stupid.

            Thanks again,

You can take the guard off?

Seriously though. The Shark Guard is pretty sweet... I never had the Ryobi guard for my BT3100, but did get one for a BT3000 I am trying desparately to piece together for a non profit group. I tried it on my 3100 and hate it...

I did receive your order. Thanks a bunch. Just to be clear, the shark may not help improve your golf game, but may reduce your future chances of divots on digits. Indirectly it may help you retain a full grip on those clubs as well.

I apologize for making light of your injury. I may not do that anymore.
I find it a bit odd that your are about the 6th or 7th guy in the past week that ordered a guard after they got cut. Not odd that someone gets cut, but all bunched up together in a weeks time is a bit unnerving. Lets be careful out there and I hope you heal up quickly. Let me know if you have any questions.
                Thanks guys.

I hired a full time guy, Son, to help out back in July.
We had lead times down to three weeks for awhile.
They are now right around a month I think.
He did take off quite a bit of time for hunting and we did have lots of weather related damage and other issues, but hopefully we will get those leads back down some. I mentioned he could have all the OT he wants. He is young though. 27. He'll come around I think.
He is learning it all little by little.

No, the discussion we had on here and more I had in person with some other people lead me to nix the idea. I know how long it took me to learn to glue these up properly and my son took awhile as well.
Not something you can really get right the first time with little to no experience. At least not trustworthy results.
Ultimately it was my little video that sold me on killing the kits.
My are glued well enough to drive up on.
Others results may not be as good.

                          Understandable on the Kits.

Hehe, Loved the video. This going to be the prototype for the new multi functional Shark Ramps? Possible selling point: Easily change your oil & then use the ramp to make sawdust for the next oil change cleanup.

I thought your comments were hillarious. Now if I can just stop laughing so I can type. I really liked the "divots on digits" - I will remember that. I still have the original guard and have wanted one of yours after reading here all about it. Now the wife insists I get one. So perhaps it will all be worth it.
