    Update on the gifted bt3100-1

A few weeks ago I gave up (after many hours) trying to get my BT3100 in alignment and gave it to a friend with more woodworking experience who was trying to get back into woodworking. I talked with him today and was curious to see what his luck was.

He hates the saw and is looking to get rid of it. He, like me, was able to get the saw aligned very close and make a few decent cuts, then bam, it's off. Here's the weird part, just like me, he would make a few cuts that were in tolerance, the weekend would end, and he would not touch the saw until the following weekend. During that time, no one would touch the saw or move it. When he would make the first cut, it was completely out of alignment.

I can't explain it, he can't explain it. I can tell you it doesn't do a lot to boost my confidence in Ryobi, but then again, it was a used saw, which always comes with risks.

The other option is that the saw is possesed.

At least it wasn't just me.

    That's the only logical explanation.

Maybe we can make a deal. I inherited a low hours BT-3x00 in need of a motor.

My SIL is a shaman (not kidding!).

Between us we may be able to salvage the heart and soul of this poor machine so that it may again serve a useful purpose on this planet.

I believe you're the Twin Cities, I'm near Lake Harriet and I love challenges.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

        Obviously time for an exorcism!
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

I'm thinking possessed. My saw has been in alignment now for, well... a LONG time, no worries. Not sure why yours kept going off. Sorry to hear you had such a hard time with your saw... They really aren't typically like that... But every now and then a bad tool rolls off an assembly line...

ET---That's a great offer, but it means we would have to travel to TN. I think it's best to let it RIP whereever it may.

Maybe we could all chip in $10 and have him re-create the scene from Office Space.

I thought you were in Minneapolis?

Good luck with your next saw. Make sure you leave your shop window open just a crack so the WW gremlins can escape!

I'll see if my son-in-law can get his 'drum circle' to send some positive vibes to the troubled BT3!

Thanks for all the stuff you tried. You have great patience.
