A few weeks ago I gave up (after many hours) trying to get my BT3100 in alignment and gave it to a friend with more woodworking experience who was trying to get back into woodworking. I talked with him today and was curious to see what his luck was.
He hates the saw and is looking to get rid of it. He, like me, was able to get the saw aligned very close and make a few decent cuts, then bam, it's off. Here's the weird part, just like me, he would make a few cuts that were in tolerance, the weekend would end, and he would not touch the saw until the following weekend. During that time, no one would touch the saw or move it. When he would make the first cut, it was completely out of alignment.
I can't explain it, he can't explain it. I can tell you it doesn't do a lot to boost my confidence in Ryobi, but then again, it was a used saw, which always comes with risks.
The other option is that the saw is possesed.
At least it wasn't just me.
