    BT3000 motor question

I recently acquired a known-good (I think) BT3000 motor from a local fellow who was parting out his saw.

Some time ago, I got a defective motor off this forum (didn't know it at the time) with a good motor pulley bracket.

While attempting to marry the good parts to get a motor for my Frankensaw project, I noticed that there is a dust shield on the donor motor. It does not fit the new motor housing. Checking the parts drawing for both the 3000 and the 3100, I noticed that neither have this shield on the drawings.

    Anybody else notice this anomaly?

The motor on the right is the donor with the shield.

You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

    Bump

I'm curious as to why there's such a difference.

    Thanks!

Actually, that's the first time I have seen one of those motors in that much detail...
