    Router Adapter

I have a porter cable router and a craftsman 21829 (clone of BT3)
The porter cable router's hole pattern doesn't match up to the table.

Is there an adapter plate or a universal adapter plate that works?

By the way, DeWalt routers don't match up either

Welcome to the forum. There are no adapter plates available that have the correct holes already drilled for your routers. Most users have just drilled their own for the Ryobi supplied mounting plate. If you searched the BT3xx00 Related discussions with search terms of "router mounting plate" you'll find a plethora of threads on that subject. Conversely if you are willing to wait a day or two follow this topic and you'll likely get plenty of responses with good detailed instructions for methods to line the plate and router base up for drilling.

The Ryobi plate will fit the 21829 accessory table, but I believe you'll have to drill the plate though.

I used a MDF plate for a short time to accomodate my Dewalt fixed base for my 21829.

I switched to a Jessem lift mounted in a shop made extension table pretty quickly thereafter. There's some photos in post 7 of this thread- http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=37992

the 21829 does not have an adapter plate, there are monting holes and bosses in the auxiliary table.

the Dewalt, PC, and Bosch all have the same pattern.

I have been told you can drill matching holes in the 21829 table using the router base as a drill guide. There is apparently enough metal to have countersunk holes even without the bosses.

I have the 21829 and a PC router. I personally couldn't find a good way to make it work because of the bosses and the relatively thin aluminum.

I bought a used BT3100 accessory table and drilled holes to mount the fixed router base.

Thanks for all the great ideas

I did make an offset using 1/4x1" aluminum bar stock
It worked, but tedious to set up

I thought about getting an extra fixed base and just leave it attached
