    Rip fence troubles....

    Hi to all,

My rip fence decided to take a prolonged break yesterday and broke apart just ahead of where the locking mechanism meets the fence itself. The potmetal/alloy gave away completely and isn't repairable at all......I found one new fence on e-bay but before I go that route I was wondering if the Biesemeyer Fence would work on a 3100?

Any other suggestions for a fence would be appreciated....

      Welcome Aboard.

There was a recent discussion about alternate Rip fences fairly recently. http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=41044
There aren't very many practical options.

there's not a fence that will easily attach - a replacement BT3000/3100/Craftsman 22811 or C'man 21829 will all fit immediately. It will also give the triple-point locking features. It's your best bet for the least money, too.

Link to the Craftsman version with part numbers.

Send Loring (Lchien) a PM for his FAQ for lots more information and tips.

You might also give M&D Mower a call and price a BT3K "front block" which is the casting that broke.

Lying patiently in wait here or on ebay for a used rip fence will be by far the cheapest way to go. Probably won't take more than two weeks. and cost about 20 bucks.

22811 is a discontinued saw, if you go to the www.sears.com and click on PARTS it takes you to the WWW3.sears.com and then enter 315.228110 (the full part number for model 22811) then it will link you to the parts lists and exploded drawings. I imagine though a replacement rip fence that way will be expensive.

Thanks guys......I ended up grabbing the fence posted on e-bay.....I know I probably paid too much for it, but I've got a mantle piece job coming up, and I need this saw functioning ASAP.....

I gotta say the saw has served me well even with being carted around from job to job....I do wish that a quick run to the hardware store would solve some of these "accessory" issues though......

                Thanks again for the assist!
