    Dust Bin for a BT3000 0r 3100

Does anybody have a strategy or plan for building a dust bin for the BT3000?
I would rather not hinge the body of the saw since it is currently built into a large cabinet with a wide fence.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i put a 4" dust collector port on the bottom of mine and hooked it to a dust collector. If you don't the inside, even withthe big opening, will get covered with sawdust causing poor operation and problems. Unless you clean it frequently.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

      Lchein,

do you have any other access to the inside other than the 4"port hooked to the dust collector?

+1 what Loring says. I don't think the BT3K saws are good candidates for no DC. At least use a shop vac. They just can't handle an accumulation of dust inside the cabinet.

I made a "belly pan" that fits in the bottom of the saw and connects with a Y to the main dust port. You can see what it looks like at the end of this thread.

My DC is connected to this and used in conjunction with a vac connected to my SharK Guard it keeps the majority of the dust contained.

My next door neighbor bought the BT after I recommended it to him. I thought he had more space then he currently does use. He just put an elbow off of it, into a box that he cut a hole for the pipe to go into. He pulls off the box, brings it out to his trash or yard (depending on what cut), and dumps it. Then he hooked his shop vac up to the saw and lets it run for a few minutes. I believe he has pulled a side panel off a couple of times for cleaning.

But he is limited in his electrical wiring, and his shop is 10' x 10', so no room for the dust collector and he is sure he would pop a breaker trying to run the saw and a vacuum.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
