    Parts Source

I found this source for the BT-3k. I have bought some things from him before. I should have thought of this before I ask about the Zero Clearance Throat Plates. It's CRS.

I purchased a wide table kit from him. I have no complaints about him. Due to a problem with the kit (2 rear rails) I found out that he does not stock the item he advertizes on Ebay. He has them droped shipped from Gardner Inc in Columbus Ohio. The guy is very honest and helpful and his shipping charges are very reasonable. They shipped a new front rail the day I contacted him and Gradner was here in 4 days. The one thing that bugs me about Ebay a lot sellers jack up the shipping and handling to cover a low bid loss. He charged $18 for shipping via DHL where some others quoted up to $48 shipping. I found the table kit for less but higher shipping cost that wiped out any saving on the kit.

It's common practice on Ebay, Tom. I buy a lot of books there for my collection, and I don't even notice the bid pricing. I use the bottom line price, including shipping. So many sellers tack on "handling" fees that are exorbitant, which is ridiculous, since you would think the seller would have to "handle" his merchandise as a part of doing business. I would think the fees would put more people off, but apparently enough either don't notice or don't care, as the practice continues.

i suspect the high shipping fees are also a ploy to get around ebay listing fees. The fees for ebay covers the winning bid price but not the shipping price. So identical items listed for
        A. minimum bid of $10 and a shipping price of $20
        B. a minimum bid price of $20 and shipping of $10
with "A" the seller has the double whammy of psychologically making the bidder think he's getting a lower price than someone having "B" and paying fees of 3 or 5% of $10 instead of $20 saving half the fees.
