What replaced the BT3100?

A few years ago I was all set to buy a BT3100 and some things came up that made me pass on it. Now I need a table saw and the BT3100 is not available anymore.

What saw are people buying now instead of a BT3100? Is there another saw in that price range that works as well, or better?

I never owned a BT3100, but I own a Craftsman 21829, which is apparently a BT3100 on a wheeled stand that collapses for easy transport and storage. It seems to have all of the features the BT3100 had and is a pretty nice saw. You should check it out.

Yikes, Sears is really proud of that saw. The BT went for about $100 less, often on sale for less than that. I'm really hoping to stay below $300.

Having never owned a BT3100, I can't list the differences between it and the 21829. The most obvious, however, is the folding stand that allows you to easily transport the 21829 and then fold it down for storage when not in use. The stand may look a little odd in the picture, but it works very well. Is it worth $100? You'll have to answer that question.

The 21829 often goes on sale. I bought mine about a month ago for $350, which is pretty close to your price range. It really is a nice saw, and IMO well worth the money. You can also check CraigsList and classified ads for used BTs.

my FAQ lists the differences between all the various incarnations incl the
BT3000, 3100, 21811 and 21829

the 21829 has some stuff that might make it worth the difference if you need those items.

I figured there has to be a million BTs out there, there's always some for sale craigs list, eBay, local classifieds. Sometimes not identied as such you have to look cloesly at the pic or description.
