HI, just to make sure I have it right, the switch with all the contacts sticking issues has been the one on the later BT3100s - the one with the yellow locking insert...
Yes, the current switch issue is for a limited number of units made with the yellow key switch which is still the current switch which is only used on the last model of BT3, which is the BT3100-1. The model immediately prior was the BT3100 and it used a switch with a locable door over a rocker switch. The door would turn the sw off when the door was closed. Prior to the BT3100 was the BT3000 which used the same sw with a door. Prior was the BT3000 which used the large red push off switch. That sw was used from 1991 until 1996.
The original BT3000 sw (large red OFF) was recalled with CPSC in 1996.
The bad bunch of BT3100-1 switches was reported to CPSC earlier this year or late last year (time flies) and resulted in a monitor situation.
By my rough tracking, I have sent out about twenty switches to date and have had no "seconds" so I am inclined to believe the "fix" has been successful.
I guess I got wordy.
Bottom line, any BT3100.1 with a code date prior to mid 2205 can have the sw replaced. Just a note or call to me with the address and phone number will get a new switch at no charge by Fed Ex.

If any is interested or needs to replace their saw switch take a look at this one. Go to Busy Bee's website, they have a better, larger paddle switch that would be a good replacement for the original one on the saw.
It is item # B2561 normally $17.99 on sale to 1/12/08 for $11.99.
Hope this helps....eezlock
Thanks, Wayne, for your quick response to my call. I haven't received the switch yet since I just called you yesterday!, but will let you know when I do.

Wayne, I wanted to publicly thank you for responding to my problem and sending me a new switch so quickly for my BT3100. Now that's customer service!! :-)

Just a big "THANKS" to Wayne for letting us know of the replacement switch on this forum. I sent a PM telling Wayne that I have had to rewire to the second terminal via BT3Central last night and received this reply today:
"Hello Larry,
I agree that you are on borrowed time with the second terminals on that
old switch. We will send a new switch right away.
We have had no repeat reports following the use of this improved switch.
Wayne"
That's what I call customer service.
12/13/07 I received the above response yesterday, today when I got home the new switch was waiting for me. It had been shipped overnite delivery............I am a happy camper!!

I'm not sure if you can answer this, but recently I've seen a few owners of the Craftsman 21829 mentioning a similar switch failure. As I understand the 21829 is essentially an updated BT3100, is this likely going to be an issue with the 21829 as well?
Thanks for your presence on this forum. It speaks well of Ryobi's commitment to its customers.
