I'm planning on buying a Freud LU87R010 10" x 24 tooth Flat Top Industrial Thin Kerf Rip Blade from Amazon. Should I also buy the Freud SC-001 3-1/2-Inch Blade Stabilizer with 5/8-Inch Arbor to use with it ? Is it necessary when using the thin kerf blade? Will it fit the BT3100? Thanks

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I wasn't trying to be abrupt.
If you want details on why the stabilizers are not useful,
send me a private message with your e-mail and I'll send the BT3 FAQ to you.
It has come up from time to time and the same answers go out. You can look in the FAQ or do a search and sort thru the discussions to find the right one (http://www.bt3central.com/showthread...ght=stabilizer) or ask again.
I gave you the answer, "no", if you want the details, they're in the FAQ.
Mine sits at the bottom of a drawer, I wish I'd had a faq to refer to.Last edited by LCHIEN; 04-13-2007, 03:49 PM.

With a high quality thin kerf like the LU87 there should be no need for a stabilizer. The vast majority of those who've tried them don't see a difference. It'd benefit the seller more than you...save your money!Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

I attended a demo by a Freud rep. He said that the stabilizer was not needed. I ask why they sold them and his reply was that people buy them.
