What is the substitute for the original wrenches?

I do not have the original hex wrenches, which are used for changing blade, of my BT3000. What can I use to substitute the small hex wrench? The standard wrench is too thick to put into the space, where the arbor nut is. Any suggestions? Thanks Kwok

you can jam a piece of wood into the blade while loosening the nut. that is the way many tables saws are from the factory.
    or
you can use one of these
    http://www.benchdog.com/bladeloc.htm
    or
you can buy a thin wrench for a bicycle (bike shop) that is the proper size (17mm or 3/4"? I'm not sure) and trim it down to fit. park tools is one brand of bike tools.

standard wrenches of 3/4 (arbor) and 1/2" for the riving knife fit. You of course have to have a left handed wrench for the arbor nut (just kidding, all you have to do is turn it in the left handed direction, no special wrench required).

I pick up loose combination open/box end wrenches to keep with each tool at the local pawn shops for around $1-2 dpending on size vs. $5 or 6 for name brand single wrenches.

The only thing is, the wrench won't lock the arbor slot...
You can use the idea given above, just jam the blade with a block of wood.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Assuming they are the same as Craftsman 21829 and they look like they are you can probably buy exact replacement wrenches from http://www3.sears.com/ The saw model number to enter is 315.218290 and the diagram to find the part is "SAW BLADE". This site's not working right now so I can't confirm price or availability.

        or you can try here

http://www.m-and-d.com/ryobi_tools.html - Click Ryobi Tool Parts and select BT3000 to see the diagrams

Here the parts appear to be as follows but you should double check
        969244003 Wrench large (BT3000) $3.23
        969244004 Wrench small (BT3000) $3.23

I have no experience ordering from M&D mower but it looks like they have a minimum order of $10 so you might want to order a couple of other spares.

Try a tappet wrench, they have a thinner head and long shanks,
Sometimes the old man passed out and left the am radio on so I got to hear the oldie songs and current event kind of things

The sears 21829 wrenches are $7.74 a piece. So both wrenches would be $15.48 before shipping. According to others here these should fit a BT. I would provide a link to the exact page but they have direct linking cut off. So http://www3.sears.com is as close as we can get you.

Strangely people found parts at Sears for the currrent 21829 are much more expensive than parts for the out of production 22811.
They of course share a lot of parts.
As some one noted above the sears replacements for the 21829 wrenches cost about $15-something.
If you go to www3.sears.com and enter 315.228110 (the older BT3000 clone)
then you will be presented with the 10" saw, select continue, then select replaement parts, select the large and small wrench and look at the shopping cart - $5.15 for the two of them.

same is true for the belts (recently someone found the belts costing half as much on the 22811 list (~$9) than for the 21829 list (~$18)) and probably other common items as well.

Crap, I forgot all about the wrenches on my just bought used BT3000 when I ordered my dual miter slot. Now what else can I add to that wrench order?
