    BT3/Incra question

How hard do you think it would be to allign the Incra 16 so it could be used in either direction on a wide table BT3? My thought is to mount the Incra base in the wide table kit with threaded inserts but also be able to rotate it 180 degrees to use the fences for the table saw.

Am I asking for troubles down the road or has this already been done?

As always there is more knowledge on this site than one could ever use so i thought I would ask the experts.

Are you trying to use it both as a TS rip fence and as a router fence?
You could probably turn it around (180 degrees) on its mounting plate no problem, the only thing might be you'd be looking at it upside down one way (will the scales be readable from that direction)

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

      Loring,
I would be trying to use it both as a TS fence and as a router fence. However my router plate would be at the end away from the saw table. My thought was to then turn it around and use it on the table saw. I think this will allow me to keep the scales facing me.

        Grant,
I sometimes do something like that with an Incra Ultra24 and my TS3650. I have the Incra mounted to a piece 3/4" ply, with a miter slider under the ply. I lock the ply in the miter slot with the Incra fence facing either direction.
This works fine for the router operation, but I don't find it a suitable replacement for the TS fence. An Incra TS fence is attached front and back on Incra rails, I don't think any center attached TS fence will be satisfactory, but that's just my opinion.
You will however, really like using the Incra for your routing. I'm sure you have considered the space needed for the long arm on the Incra.
Good luck to you with this.
        Ken

          Ken,
Could you possibly post a picture of your set-up for me?

          Thanks in advance,
          Grant

            Here you are, Grant

            Hope this helps.

Currently I don't use this often. I place the 3650 router end inline with the workbench behind the saw and clamp the ply to that. Mounting it to the saw top always results in needing to use the saw, never fails.
