I have used several of komatoast's products and have always found them to be as advertised. I agree that the negative comments about him are unjustified and unfair.

Sure, it is relatively easy to make the rail extension hardware yourself, but there is some merit in being able to get all the measuring and cutting done for you when you don't have time, equipment, or skill to do it yourself. Fact is, I made my own hardware only after I was unable to get a set from komatoast.

Indeed, when I have made the hardware I found that using a slighly longer piece of steel and four bolts and t-nuts, two on each side of the rail union, makes for a very stable arrangement.

    Regards, Steve

My mistake ... I guess it wasn't clear "what ebay listing" ... I though we were all referring to the actual auction link in KomaToast's post (which I'm guessing was the auction WoodButcher26 won)

Well then, if there is a kit available now that does contains the required T-nuts, that's even a better!

The 4" connectors shown above in LCHIEN's post does come with the T-nuts as shown. With the 6" connectors they are optional, can be purchased with or without T-nuts but I always have the T-nuts in stock if I have them listed.

          T-nuts.com price for the 8 T-nuts - $10.10 plus shipping.
          Stock Ryobi connectors, 4 @ $3.61 each - $14.41.
Mine are thicker so the bolt doesn't contact the rail and scuff it up plus a little longer too. They are made from 1018 cold rolled steel which costs twice as much as hot rolled steel.
If you figure the cost of each of my connectors at $4.00 each that's $26.10 without the stainless steel hardware. Add the cost of the hardware and your right at $30.00. Stainless hardware is $ky high even when purchased in 1,000 lots.

eBay and PayPal fees are about 15% if you have a 100% sell rate, sell everything you list every time but that doesn't always happen. If relisted a second time and they don't sell the fee % gets up there.
How much do I profit by making and selling them? Very little if any, that's why I don't list them often.

The stock Ryobi hardware kit that comes with the wide table kit sells for $39.95. The connectors and T-nuts are made from stamped steel, no where near the quality of what I make. Mine would be a better deal than the stock kit even at the same price. At $29.95 it's a steal.

My 6" connector kit with twice as many T-nuts, 50% more steel and twice as many holes to drill is $43.95. Do the math on that.
Figure in the cost of sanding discs and belts, metal bandsaw blades and 3M Scotch-Brite belts ($29.90 each and can only be purchased in boxes of 10) plus the electric to run the shop (north Texas is the 4th highest electric in the nation) plus the paint & packaging etc.

No wonder I'm so poor, I'm going broke making these things.
Maybe I should reevaluate this situation and raise the price so I at least break even.

            WoodButcher26

They work much better "with" the T-nuts.

He never responded to any of my emails either.

I think you people are way out of line attacking Woodbutcher for stating his/her opinion. There was nothing in Woodbutchers original post in this thread attacking KomoToast. Just a statement that it was, in their opinion, a waste of money. I'm sure there were many times that you have purchased something that others thought were great and you, after the purchase, thought it to be a waste of money.

KomaToast was wrong in bringing their conflict here. He has done this previously, maybe a year or two ago, with a member that has left the forum. I didn't appreciate it then and I still don't. If he has issues with WoodButcher then he should deal with them at the cause, in the opions at ebay. Not here.

If WoodButcher had made comments attacking him in this forum, that would have been a different story.
